by Contributing Editor

A motorist was killed Monday when the car he was driving crashed into a tree in the Koreatown area.

Joel Conde, 19, of Los Angeles died at the scene of the crash at about 2:05 a.m. on Olympic Boulevard near Vermont Avenue, according to the Los Angeles County coroner’s office and the Los Angeles Police Department.

Conde was driving a Toyota Camry west on Olympic Boulevard when the car “veered left across eastbound lanes of traffic, ran off the road and collided with a tree,” police said.

It was unknown if alcohol or drugs were a factor in the collision.

Anyone with information on the crash was urged to call the LAPD West Traffic Division at 213-473-0234, or 877-LAPD-247.
