BURBANK — The Walmart in Burbank and the surrounding area was evacuated for about two hours Tuesday afternoon in response to a phoned-in bomb threat, triggering a search by explosive detective dogs.
An employee at the store at 1301 N. Victory Place received a “suspicious phone call and perceived threat” about 1:20 p.m., according to the Burbank Police Department.
Store managers opted to evacuate the store prior to the arrival of police. The public was advised to avoid the area, which was closed to vehicle and pedestrian traffic, while the investigation was underway.
Around 3:15 p.m., police tweeted that explosive detection dogs were “deployed to search Walmart following phone call threat of an alleged explosive device inside the store.” The search turned up nothing threatening and the all-clear was given about 3:40 p.m., police said.
