by Contributing Editor

A 41-year-old man suffered a gunshot wound to his left leg Saturday while driving on the Foothill (210) Freeway in Irwindale.

The victim, a resident of Fontana, was going westbound near Irwindale Avenue in a 2018 Kia Optima in the middle lanes of traffic when an unknown vehicle drove alongside him at approximately 1:50 a.m., when someone inside the vehicle fired several rounds that struck the left side of the Kia, the California Highway Patrol reported.

The motorist was wounded in the left leg, exited the freeway from the Citrus Avenue off-ramp and parked at a 7-Eleven at the corner of Citrus Avenue and Gladstone Street, where he was assisted by a store clerk.

Paramedics took the motorist to Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center.

The CHP’s Baldwin Park area office urged anyone with information regarding the shooting to call them at 626-338-1164.
