A suspect was arrested for allegedly pointing a handgun at a motorist during a road-rage encounter, Culver City police said Friday.

The confrontation occurred about 10:50 a.m. Thursday in the 9200 block of Culver Boulevard, according to the Culver City Police Department.

“The victim stated that the suspect pointed a handgun at him during a road rage incident,” a police statement said. “The victim provided a suspect description as well as the license plate number to the suspect vehicle.”

Detectives found a vehicle matching the description parked in a business parking lot in the 9200 block of Culver Boulevard.

“Undercover detectives established surveillance on the vehicle,” police said. “At (about 5 p.m.), a subject matching the description of the suspect approached the vehicle and was detained without incident.”

Detectives searched the vehicle and found a loaded handgun and an undisclosed amount of cocaine, police said.

The suspect, whose name was not immediately released, was arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon and possession of a controlled substance.
