The Orange County Sheriff’s Department Friday sought the public’s help in identifying a man who allegedly pointed a handgun at a 10-year-old boy in San Clemente.
The incident occurred about 3:30 p.m. on Oct. 21 near Camino Celosia and Camino Silla, the department reported.
The boy was walking his dog in an isolated greenbelt area when the suspect passed him. When the child turned around, the suspect allegedly pointed a gun at the boy and chased him for a short distance.
Witnesses said a man was in the area matching the suspect description, who was exhibiting strange behavior prior to the assault.
The suspect was described as a Latino man between 30 and 40 years old, about 5 feet 9-inches tall, with a mustache and spiky hair. He was last seen wearing baggy shorts and a washed-out dark-colored shirt.
The Orange County Sheriff’s Department urged anyone with any information regarding the incident to call them at 949-425-1844 or Crime Stoppers at 855-TIP-OCCS.
