Probationer Accused of Killing Husband Makes Court Appearance

by Contributing Editor

A 30-year-old probationer accused of fatally stabbing her husband in Moreno Valley made her initial court appearance Wednesday.

Asia Marina Toki of Moreno Valley is charged with the March 22 murder of Alaimaluloa Pila Toki, 30, a native of Hawaii.

The defendant appeared before Riverside County Superior Court Judge David Gunn, who appointed her an attorney and scheduled her arraignment for Dec. 16 at the Riverside Hall of Justice.

Toki is being held in lieu of $1 million bail at the Robert Presley Jail in Riverside.

According to sheriff’s Sgt. Richard Carroll, the attack happened about 11 p.m. at a residence in the 22900 block of Adrienne Avenue, near Pride Street. Patrol deputies were sent to the location to investigate reports of an assault and discovered the victim dying from a puncture wound.

The Moreno Valley man was taken to nearby Riverside University Medical Center, where he died a short time later.

Detectives did not immediately identify a suspect, but as the investigation progressed, sufficient evidence was gathered pointing to Toki as the alleged perpetrator, according to Carroll. No other details were disclosed, including a possible motive.

Toki was taken into custody without incident last Thursday at her apartment near the intersection of Heritage Way and Town Circle.

According to court records, she has a prior misdemeanor conviction for driving under the influence.
