LAPD Officer Opens Fire on Armed Suspect, No One Hit, Suspect Arrested

by Contributing Editor

A suspect was in custody Saturday morning after leading police on a foot chase in Nickerson Gardens that ended with an officer firing at, but not hitting, the suspect.

At 11 p.m. Friday, officers with the Los Angeles Police Department’s Southeast station were in 1300 block of East Imperial Highway when they saw the suspect reach into his waistband, according to the department.

The suspect ran away and into a home, followed by an officer. While inside the home, the officer opened fire, but no one was hit, police said.

The suspect was taken into custody and the suspect’s gun was recovered, the department said.

No injuries were reported.
