Three suspected gang members were arrested after at least one of them allegedly shot three people, including two teenagers, outside a store in Long Beach, authorities said Friday.
The shooting occurred about 4:40 p.m. Thursday in the 700 block of Chestnut Avenue, near Seventh Street, according to the Long Beach Police Department. The three victims suffered non-life threatening injuries.
Guadalupe Vargashernandez, 25, and April Ortega, 43, were arrested in the area of 10th Street and Pine Avenue within 10 minutes of the shooting’s report, according to police.
George Mercado, 30, was arrested two blocks away, at 10th and Pacific Avenue, police said.
Two firearms were recovered from the suspects, and it was not immediately clear which of the suspects are believed to have shot the three victims.
Vargashernandez and Ortega were both booked for attempted murder, being an ex-felon in possession of a firearm and participating in a criminal street gang. Their bails were set at $1.04 million.
Mercado was booked for the same charges, as well as a parole violation, according to police. He is being held without bail.
Detectives are investigating possible motives, but they believe the shooting is gang-related.
