OC Deputies Collar Alleged Burglary Crew in Yorba Linda

Eight men and two 17-year-olds were behind bars on suspicion of breaking into a store in Yorba Linda early Thursday, with some of the suspects leading police on a chase that reached speeds up to 150 mph.

The suspects were Ali Abdullah, 22, Victor Delatorre, 24, Justin Fernandez, 20, Ronaldo Sanchez, 21, Maricio Felixfigueroa, Felixfigueroa, 22, Jason Felix, 18, Javier Fernandez, 22, and Gilberto Diaz, 21, as well as the 17-year-olds, said Orange County sheriff’s Sgt. Dennis Breckner.

A security guard at the store in the 13800 block of Imperial Highway called 911 at 1:45 a.m., Breckner said.

Deputies quickly tracked down one suspect car and pulled it over near the store, he said. There were six suspects in that BMW.

But the other suspect vehicle — a Ford Mustang — led police on a chase that was so fast that police in Anaheim either backed off or lost track, he said.

The Mustang was going so fast it even outpaced a police helicopter that was in pursuit, Breckner said. Police in the helicopter, however, were able to keep an eye on the suspect vehicle with a zoom lens.

The car finally stopped in Gardena, where the suspects bailed out, but were quickly caught on foot, he said.

Investigators noticed while viewing surveillance video that the suspects in the Mustang tossed out two guns before the chase ended, but police were able to recover the weapons, Breckner said.

Investigators believe the crew were involved in two other burglaries in nearby cities, he said. Deputies also recovered a great deal of stolen property in the suspect vehicles, but details about that property were not disclosed.
