Firefighters On Scene of Brush Fire in San Dimas

A brush fire burning uphill in San Dimas Friday scorched about 65 acres, but no homes were threatened, authorities said
The fire was reported about 4 a.m. near San Dimas Canyon and Golden Hills roads, northeast of San Dimas Canyon Golf Course, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department.
The fire’s size had been preliminarily listed at 100 acres as of about 7 a.m., but was downgraded to 65 acres shortly before 8 a.m., and containment was listed at 10%, according to the county fire department, which reported that “firefighters are making good progress from the air and the ground.”
The flames were “heading northwest away from La Verne,” the La Verne Police Department reported.
Ten aircraft were assigned to the firefighting effort, assisting crews on the ground, according to Angeles National Forest officials.
La Verne Fire Department personnel were assisting county crews.
The cause of the blaze was unknown.
