Man’s Body Found in Stanton Strip Mall Parking Lot

by Contributing Editor

Orange County sheriff’s investigators Friday were investigating a fight in a Stanton strip mall parking lot that led to one man’s death and the other suffering a stab wound.

Sheriff’s deputies were called at 8:15 p.m. Thursday to 12522 Beach Blvd. regarding a man down, said Orange County sheriff’s spokeswoman Carrie Braun. The fatal victim, whose name was not released, was on the curb outside a restaurant, where he was pronounced dead at the scene, Braun said.

Witnesses told deputies that the man had been in a fight with another man, who had left the scene, she said.

Deputies later found him at a nearby hospital being treated for a stab wound, she said. Investigators believe the man suffered the wound in the fight, she said.

Deputies were continuing to question witnesses and the other combatant — who has been cooperative — as well as combing through surveillance video to determine what happened, Braun said.
