Indio Man Missing Amid `Suspicious Circumstances,’ Police Say

A 33-year-old man went missing in Indio amid suspicious circumstances, and authorities sought the public’s help Wednesday to find him.

Jessie Mendivel was last heard from Sept. 22 by his aunt who said he sent several text messages “that sounded like he was distraught,” according to the Indio Police Department.

The Indio resident was described as 5 feet, 9 inches tall and 199 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes, police said.

Authorities circulated a photo of Mendivel and urged anyone with information about his whereabouts to contact the department’s Major Crimes Unit at 760-541-4291. Anonymous tipsters can call Crime Stoppers at 760-341-STOP or visit www.341stop.com.
