A 28-year-old kidnapping suspect was arrested in North Shore and remained behind bars Friday.
Gutberto Antonio Rodriguez was taken into custody Thursday night on Sea Breeze Drive and was being held at the Benoit Detention Center in Indio in lieu of $250,000 bail as of Friday morning, jail records show.
Rodriguez was the subject of a manhunt in Thermal last month, but deputies were unable to locate him, according to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department. At the time, he was considered armed and dangerous.
“Rodriguez is known to run from law enforcement and should be considered armed,” the sheriff’s department said at the time. “If seen, please do not attempt to make contact.”
Specifics about the alleged kidnapping or his arrest were not released.
Rodriguez could be charged as soon as Wednesday, records show.
Rodriguez was convicted of a misdemeanor hit-and-run that resulted in property damage in 2018, but has no documented felony convictions in Riverside County.
