Pedestrian Struck and Killed in Hit-And-Run in Westlake Area; Suspect Sought

by Contributing Editor

A pedestrian was fatally struck Thursday by a hit-and-run pickup in the Westlake area, and the motorist was being sought.

The woman, about 35-40 years of age, was injured about 4:30 a.m. at Wilshire Boulevard and Alvarado Street and died at a hospital, according to the Los Angeles Police Department. The woman’s identity was not immediately released.

“The victim was crossing Wilshire Boulevard outside of a marked crosswalk west of Alvarado Street (when) a possible white 2000 to 2005 Chevrolet Silverado pick-up truck, traveling eastbound on Wilshire Boulevard, collided with the victim and continued eastbound on Wilshire Boulevard,” an LAPD statement said.

Security images were released of the pickup, which had a bed liner with a dark stripe or molding on the side. The truck may also have front end damage on the grill, front bumper and hood, police said. There was no suspect description.

A standing reward of up to $50,000 is in effect, offered by the Los Angeles City Council, for information that helps solve a hit-and-run.

Anyone with information on the case was urged to call the LAPD Central Traffic Division at 213-833-3713, or Crime Stoppers at 800-222-TIPS.
