78-Year-Old Woman with Schizophrenia Still Missing in Pico Rivera

A 78-year-old woman with schizophrenia went missing in Pico Rivera and sheriff’s detectives continued their search for her Sunday.

Mercedes Lopez of Los Angeles was last seen about 10:05 a.m. Wednesday in the 8900 block of Mines Avenue, near Rosemead Boulevard, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

Lopez is Hispanic. She stands 5 feet 3 inches tall and weighs about 130 pounds. She has brown eyes and short white hair, the sheriff’s department said. She was last seen wearing a gray sweatshirt and pants and purple glasses.

Authorities circulated a photo of Lopez and encouraged anyone with information about her whereabouts to contact the sheriff’s Missing Persons Unit at 323-890-5500 or 911. Tipsters can also call Crime Stoppers at 800-222-TIPS.
