Pair Suspected of Beating Elsinore Man with Baseball Bat

Two men suspected of attacking a Lake Elsinore man with a baseball bat after breaking into his home in a gang-related attack were behind bars Friday.

David Michael Guerrero, 22, and Lorenzo Guerrero, 23, were arrested and booked into the Southwest Detention Center in Murrieta Thursday on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon, vandalism and burglary.

David Guerrero was additionally arrested for allegedly making terrorist threats and driving without a license, while Lorenzo Guerrero was additionally booked for alleged possession of an illegal firearm.

Each man is being held in lieu of $250,000 bail. They are believed to be related, but authorities did not confirm whether they are brothers or cousins.

According to Riverside County Sheriff’s Sgt. Jeff Reese, the suspects allegedly broke into the victim’s Lake Elsinore home last month, though the exact date and location were not specified.

Reese said that after the pair forced their way into the house, they beat the victim and damaged property before fleeing. The extent of the man’s injuries was not disclosed.

Other than gang activity, there was no mention of a specific motive.

The sheriff’s Gang Task Force was assigned to the investigation and soon identified David and Lorenzo Guerrero as the alleged perpetrators, according to Reese.

He said warrants were obtained, and one was served in the 500 block of Lakeshore Drive in Lake Elsinore, where David Guerrero was taken into custody without incident.

Another warrant was served in the 32000 block of Cherrywood Lane, where Lorenzo Guerrero was arrested without a struggle.
