A 33-year-old transient was arrested for allegedly starting a fire that burned about an acre of hillside in Culver City Wednesday.
The fire was reported about 11:30 a.m. in the 9500 block of Jefferson Boulevard, near Culver City Park, according to the Culver City Police Department.
Firefighters extinguished the flames, and officers at the scene saw a “suspicious subject leaving the area,” police said.
A witness told officers that he was the man who started the fire, and the suspect, later identified as Brice Piller, was arrested on suspicion of arson, according to police.
The fire did not cause any injuries or structural damage, police said.
