Pedestrian Killed in Long Beach in Hit-And-Run; Suspect Sought

Long Beach police Thursday sought public help to find a hit-and-run motorist responsible for fatally injuring a pedestrian.

Larry Clay, 67, of Long Beach was struck about 9 p.m. Wednesday at Willow Street and Delta Avenue and died at the scene, according to the Long Beach Police Department.

According to police, a white 2011 GMC Yukon with an unidentifiedd female driver behind the wheel was eastbound in the number two lane on Willow Street when it struck Clay, who was crossing Willow Street outside an unmarked crosswalk.

Officers recovered the unoccupied Yukon at 9:30 p.m.

Anyone with any information about the driver’s identity or whereabouts was urged to call detectives at 562-570-7132, or Crime Stoppers at 800-222-TIPS.
