A traffic stop in Pomona led to the arrest of a convicted felon and documented gang member on various weapons violations after authorities found a short barreled shotgun next to his seat in the vehicle, police said Saturday morning.
Officers with the Pomona Police Department’s Major Crimes Task Force spotted a vehicle that failed to stop at the intersection of Hamilton Boulevard and Ninth Street at 10:45 p.m. and pulled the vehicle over, according to Sgt. M. Medellin.
The passenger was asked to step out, at which time officers noticed ammunition on the floorboard where he had been sitting and a bag containing a short barreled shotgun was found next to the ammunition, Medellin said.
Officers arrested Anthony Garcia, 26, of Pomona, and booked him into the Pomona city jail, Medellin said.
There was no report of the driver being arrested.
