Bank Robbery Suspect Arrested Outside Chase Branch In La Mirada

by Contributing Editor

A 44-year-old bank robbery suspect with an extensive arrest record was arrested outside a Chase branch in La Mirada Friday afternoon.

Francisco Javier Cano walked into the branch in the La Mirada Theatre Center at 15128 E. Rosecrans Ave., near La Mirada Boulevard, without a disguise and handed a clerk a note demanding money, according to Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Sgt. Jeff Creager of the Norwalk Station.

Cano, who was not armed, was not able to take any money, and deputies arrived at the scene while he was leaving the bank, Creager said.

He matched the description a clerk had reported, and deputies detained him.

The clerk identified Cano as the suspect and he was taken into custody, Creager said.

According to the sheriff’s department’s inmate records, Cano has been booked at least 11 times since July 2018. The reasons for previous arrests was not immediately available.
