Man Jumps From Freeway After Crash in Costa Mesa, SigAlert Issued

A man died Friday morning near the scene of a single-vehicle crash on the northbound Costa Mesa (55) Freeway in Costa Mesa.
The vehicle crashed into a center divider wall north of Victoria Street at 2:40 a.m and briefly blocked two lanes of the freeway, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The driver of the crashed vehicle had gotten out and was walking northbound in the southbound lanes of the freeway, away from the crash scene, when he appeared to jump off the freeway, the CHP said. He was pronounced dead by paramedics.
A SigAlert was issued about 3:30 a.m. for the No. 3 lane of the freeway until further notice.
Details of what led up to the crash were not immediately available.
The age and name of the victim were not disclosed.
