A man was in custody Monday morning, hours after he barricaded himself inside a Whittier apartment after leading law enforcement officers on a high-speed pursuit that started when he allegedly tried to run over a police officer in Burbank, authorities said.
The man was taken into custody Monday morning, according to KTLA5. The exact time was not available.
The pursuit began about 10:15 p.m. Sunday near San Fernando Boulevard and Avon Street, said California Highway Patrol Officer Patrick Kimball.
Police and CHP officers were led on the Golden State (5) Freeway south to the Pomona (60) Freeway east and to the San Gabriel River (605) Freeway south, when the driver of the black Nissan Frontier pickup went onto surface streets in the Whittier area until the driver bailed out and ran inside an apartment complex at 8356 Sergeant Ave. in Whittier, Kimball said.
The passenger in the pickup was detained at that scene, Kimball said.
