Coachella Valley Man Accused of Lewd Acts on Kids under 14 Pleads Not Guilty

by Contributing Editor

A 67-year-old Coachella Valley man pleaded not guilty Friday to allegations he inappropriately touched two young female family members.

Ysidro Anaya Sanchez is charged with five counts of committing lewd acts on a child under 14, with a sentencing-enhancement allegation that the sex offenses involved multiple victims.

Sanchez was arrested Wednesday by sheriff’s deputies from the Coachella station, following an investigation that began Dec. 3, according to Riverside County sheriff’s Deputy Robyn Flores.

According to sheriff’s Investigator Prezell Burgie in a written declaration in support of increased bail, Sanchez allegedly admitted he has a “problem” during an interview with investigators.

“I asked him if his problem is touching young girls,” Burgie wrote, “and he said yes.”

According to the criminal complaint, the alleged crimes happened in June 2015.

Bail for Sanchez was set at $500,000. He is scheduled to return to court at the Larson Justice Center in Indio for a felony settlement conference on Jan. 29
