Probationer Arrested After Allegedly Stealing Vehicle, Fleeing Police

by Contributing Editor

A 21-year-old man on probation for possessing a stolen vehicle was arrested Thursday on suspicion of stealing a car, which he allegedly tried to flee deputies in.

Riverside County sheriff’s deputies located a stolen car about 1 a.m. near Brightman Avenue and Blackwell Boulevard in Lakeland Village, according to a department statement.

Deputies attempted to stop the car, but the driver — later determined to be Abel Hall of Lake Elsinore — failed to stop, leading them on a chase that ended when the car became disabled on “several rocks and debris” at a dead end on Rome Hill Road in Lakeland Village, according to the statement.

Hall ran but was caught by deputies, who took him into custody.

He was already on probation for possessing a stolen vehicle, and is in custody at the Southwest Detention Center in Murrieta on $50,000 bail for suspicion of evading arrest, vehicle theft, possessing a stolen vehicle and a probation violation, jail records show.

Hall is scheduled to be arraigned at the Southwest Justice Center in Murrieta on Tuesday.
