by Contributing Editor

Long Beach police Thursday sought public help to find a 12-year-old girl who failed to return home from school.

Mia Gianna Goforth had left her home in the 2100 block of Fidler Avenue about 7:30 a.m. Wednesday, according to the Long Beach Police Department.

“Goforth had walked to school and was reported to have been there all day,” a police statement said. “The last communication with Goforth was by text message at approximately 3 p.m. A possible destination may be Buena Park or Los Angeles. ”

The girl is white, 5 feet 6 inches tall, weighs 160 pounds, and has brown hair and blue eyes. She was wearing a black sweatshirt, a black shirt and black pants, and was carrying a blue-and-white backpack.

Anyone knowing her whereabouts was urged to call police at 562-570-7246 or 562-435-6711, or Crime Stoppers at 800-222-TIPS.
