A 60-year-old woman driving an older Lexus struck a pedestrian and drove into a commercial building in Wilmington Saturday, authorities said.
It happened at 10:20 a.m. at 1000 North Avalon Blvd., Los Angeles Fire Department spokeswoman Margaret Stewart said.
The woman was attempting to park her car between lines in a parking space when she accidentally hit the gas pedal instead of the brake pedal, said Officer O. Herrera of the Los Angeles Police Department’s South Traffic Division.
The car struck a pedestrian, knocking the man through a plate glass window, Herrera said. It continued into a cell phone store hitting “objects inside the building,” he said.
The pedestrian suffered small lacerations from the glass window and complained of pain, Herrera said. The driver was not injured and was not impaired by drugs or alcohol at the time of the crash, he said.
