Two Transients Arrested in Norco Mail Thefts

by Contributing Editor

A man and a woman, both transients, were arrested Friday for allegedly stealing mail from residential mailboxes in Norco.

Deputies were called at about 11:25 a.m. to the area of Fifth Street and Hillside Avenue where they contacted Marlene Cambara, 39, and Tony Basenback Jr., 24, Riverside County sheriff’s Deputy Steven Lycopolus said.

“Witnesses identified both suspects as the persons spotted stealing mail in the area,” Lycopolus said.

The two suspects were arrested and booked into the Robert Presley Detention Center and were held in lieu of $10,000 bail, he said.
