A pedestrian was fatally struck by a car Thursday in a hit-and-run crash in the Echo Park area, and police sought the motorist.

The man, about 60, was injured about 5:20 a.m. at Sunset Boulevard and Douglas Street and died at the scene, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

According to NBC4, he was Jose Vaquiero, a grandfather of three. His name has not yet been released by the coroner’s office.

The Los Angeles City Council has offered a standing reward of up to $50,000 for information that helps police solve a fatal hit and run.
