Two Injured in Head-On Crash in Perris, DUI Driver Suspected

A suspected drunk driver was hospitalized Friday morning with major injuries suffered in a head-on crash in Perris.

Deputies responded to a crash on Frontage Road, near Nuevo Road, about 6:30 p.m. Thursday and located the two vehicles, according to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.

A preliminary investigation determined the suspect, identified as Hipolito PabloPedro, 33, of Perris, was driving southbound on Frontage Road when, for an unknown reason, he swerved left and into oncoming traffic where his vehicle struck another vehicle traveling northbound head-on, the department said.

PabloPedro suffered major injuries and was taken to a hospital. The driver of the other vehicle sustained minor injuries and declined medical treatment at the scene, the RCSD said.

PabloPedro was suspected of being under the influence of alcohol and felony charges will be sought against him upon his release from the hospital, the department said.
