Multi-car crash kills 1 on 5 Freeway in Granada Hills, lanes closed

GRANADA HILLS — At least one person was killed Friday morning in a multi-vehicle crash on the southbound Golden State (5) Freeway in Granada Hills and four lanes of the freeway were blocked until further notice.
The crash occurred near the connector ramp to the southbound San Diego (405) Freeway about 5:15 a.m., according to the California Highway Patrol.

At least four vehicles were reported involved in the crash and a witness told the CHP the driver of a sedan weaved across from the right side of the freeway to the carpool lane and hit all the vehicles.
The Nos. 3, 4, 5 and 6 lanes of the freeway would be blocked for an unknown duration, the CHP said.
