Firefighters and three helicopters worked Monday to put out a brush fire that by late afternoon had burned two acres by the Whittier Narrows Recreation Area, fire officials said.
No structures were threatened, Los Angeles County Fire Department spokesman Marvin Lim said.
The fire started at 3:26 p.m. in heavy brush at Santa Anita and Durfee avenues. But 4:45 p.m. there was second fire about a half mile away.
The cause has not been determined.
