An arrest has been made in connection with a man who was fatally struck Sunday morning by a hit-and-run motorist in a large gray pickup truck in Pasadena.
The suspect has been identified as Higinio Arceo of Baldwin Park, 41, who was arrested on suspicion of vehicular manslaughter, drunk driving and driving unlicensed, Pasadena Police Lt. Pete Hettema said.
The pickup truck was going westbound on Colorado Boulevard, between Madison and El Molino avenues, when it struck the pedestrian who was crossing the street at 3:15 a.m., Hettema said.
The pedestrian, a man in his 30s, was pronounced dead at the scene and the pickup truck continued westbound on Colorado Boulevard, he said.
Officers canvassed the immediate area, when a couple of officers spotted a gray/silver Chevrolet Silverado parked in an underground parking structure about four blocks away.
“Damage to the front of the vehicle was consistent with the crash,” Hettema said.
The registered owner of the Chevy was confirmed by telephone and Arceo, who was working at a nearby construction site, returned to the pickup truck, where he was interviewed by police, Hettema said. He was subsequently placed under arrest.
