Vista del Lago High School Student, 17, Found With Two Guns on Campus

A 17-year-old Vista del Lago High School student was in custody Saturday morning after he was found holding two loaded guns on school grounds.

The School Resource Officer assigned to the high school received an anonymous tip at 11:30 a.m. Friday of a student on campus with guns, according to Sgt. Victor Tejada of the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.

An investigation led to the identification of the student, who “was found to be in possession of two loaded handguns on school grounds,” Tejada said.

The suspect was arrested and booked into Riverside County Juvenile Hall.

The investigation was ongoing, but there was no evidence the student targeted the school or other students, Tejada said.
