Man with Mental Capacity of Child Missing in Altadena

Sheriff’s detectives were asking the public for help locating a 41-year-old Altadena man who has the mental capacity of a six-year-old child.

Joseph Barela was last seen at 9 p.m. Monday at his home in the 1400 block of North Oxford Avenue in Altadena, Deputy Tracy Koerner of the Sheriff’s Information Bureau said.

Barela is Hispanic, 6 feet 1, 150 pounds, with brown short hair and a receding hairline, brown eyes and a scruffy beard. He was wearing a lavender shirt, blue jeans and blue shoes.

Anyone with information was asked to call the Altadena Sheriff’s Station at 626-798-1131.
