The California Highway Patrol received a call about the collision on the westbound 118 Freeway, east of Madera Road, shortly after 9 a.m.
“We believe the bus was heading to the Ronald Reagan Library on a field trip,” CHP Officer Marco Marin said.
He didn’t have details yet on what led to the crash. After the collision, Marin said the bus went up an embankment on the north side of the freeway.
The fire department tweeted that there were seven adults and 33 minors on the bus. Three were hurt but it wasn’t clear if injured included students.
The CHP closed all westbound lanes of the 118 Freeway at First Street at 9:15 a.m., Marin said. He said the lanes should reopen by 11:45 a.m.
