Detectives Investigate Shooting Deaths of Man, Woman in South L.A.

A man and woman died from injuries they suffered in a shooting in the unincorporated Westmont area of Los Angeles County near South Los Angeles and the shooter was at large Friday morning.

Detectives responded about 9:10 p.m. Thursday to a gunshot victim call in the 1600 block of West 105th Street, near Denker Avenue, where they located the victims, according to Deputy Erin Liu of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

The man was wounded in the upper body and pronounced dead at the scene. The woman was wounded multiple times in the upper body and died at a hospital, Liu said. Their names were not disclosed.

A description of the shooter and a motive for the shooting were not immediately available.

Anyone with information about the shooting was asked to call the sheriff’s Homicide Bureau at 323-890-5500.
