Pasadena man accused of threatening to kill supervisor and himself

A Southern California Edison employee was arrested over the weekend on suspicion of threatening to kill a supervisor and himself Monday.

A gun registered to the suspect, who police said is a former LAPD officer, was seized from his home, according to Pasadena Police Lt. Pete Hettema.

Police received a call at 7:51 p.m. Sunday about the threat.

The suspect had called his supervisor around 7:30 p.m. on Sunday and said he was going to shoot himself and another worker the next day, according to Hettema.

An Edison supervisor called police at 7:51 p.m. Hettema said a records check revealed the suspect has three weapons registered to him.

Officers headed to 1800 block of El Molino Avenue and arrested Richard Alarcon, 61, of Pasadena on suspicion of making threats.

Hettema said Alarcon is a groundman for Edison.

He was being held at the Inmate Reception Center in Los Angeles. His bail was $50,000. Alarcon doesn’t have a court date yet.
