SYLMAR — Firefighters needed 25 minutes Monday night to extinguish a blaze in a one-story converted outbuilding in the rear of a property in Sylmar.
Crews responded to 15131 Paddock St., near Telfair Avenue, at 10:14 p.m. and located the structure fully involved with fire, but all persons who were inside the building had safely evacuated, said Brian Humphrey of the Los Angeles Fire Department.

A total of 38 firefighters were able to keep the flames from spreading to nearby hay, vegetation and a second structure. Knockdown was declared at 10:39 p.m., Humphrey said.
No injuries were reported, and the cause of the fire was under investigation.
