Parts of the 2 Freeway remained closed Monday after a brushfire scarred hillsides in Glendale and Eagle Rock the day before, sending up a huge plume of smoke visible at Dodger Stadium and leading to evacuations.
Both sides of the 134 Freeway were reopened, according to Caltrans.
But the fire was still smoldering Monday morning.
The Glendale Fire Department said the brushfire started at around 4 p.m. Sunday in the 2900 block of West Colorado Boulevard, on the southeast side of the 2 and 134 interchange.
The fire eventually jumped north across the freeway and began threatening homes in Glen Oaks Canyon, with residents living on East Glenoaks Boulevard between Mount Carmel Drive and Bywood Drive evacuated.
By 10 p.m., residents were allowed back into their homes.
The fire remained at 30 acres burned with 25 percent containment Monday morning, according to the Glendale Fire Department. Forward progress on the fire was stopped.
The fire started as the game between the Los Angeles Dodgers and New York Yankees was about to end, with fans posting photos of the large plum of smoke to social media. Motorists were jammed on the 2 and 134 freeways as fire officials closed both routes.
