A shooting scare at the Westfield Topanga mall in Canoga Park scattered shoppers and led to panic on social media on Sunday.
Los Angeles Police Department officers swarmed the mall at around 3 p.m. after reports of gunfire.
When they got there, they found nothing to indicate there was a shooting.

According to multiple media reports, there may have been an attempted smash-and-grab robbery at the mall. But police officials have not yet confirmed that information.
“At this time, preliminary information is NO evidence of a shooting, but officers are still on scene, and they are clearing the mall,” LAPD officials said on Twitter. “Please avoid the area. Expect a large police presence.”
Several dozen shoppers on Sunday took to Twitter as people started to flee the mall, warning others there could be an active shooter inside. Some posted photos of people hiding in stores as they waited to be evacuated by police.
