Plane crashes in Lancaster; All aboard safe, but brush fire is ignited

by Richard K. De Atley

A plane crashed Sunday in Lancaster with all those aboard reported safe, but the incident touched off a brush fire that burned about five acres in the minutes after the crash, the Los Angeles County Fire Department reported.

The people who escaped the plane would be checked at the scene as a precaution, the department said.

The plane was reported down around 11:45 a.m. at North 70th Street West, between West Avenue K and Avenue L. The fire was at five acres by shortly after 12 p.m.
