Ailing Griffith Park hiker airlifted to safety

LOS ANGELES — Firefighters airlifted a 44-year-old hiker to medical care Saturday after she went into medical distress at Griffith Park, authorities said.

The operation was reported at 12:36 p.m. at 118 Griffith Park, Los Angeles Fire Department spokeswoman Margaret Stewart said. The site was north of the Griffith Park Observatory.
