A work truck exploded into flames after crashing into a pole in Arleta early Wednesday morning.
The crash occurred at around 1:15 a.m. in the 13900 block of Van Nuys Boulevard, near the 5 Freeway, said Margaret Stewart, a spokeswoman for the Los Angeles Fire Department.
The 1985 GMC utility truck crashed head-on into the electrical pole, then caught fire. The vehicle was engulfed in flames by the time firefighters arrived. They quickly doused the blaze, according to reports from the scene.
There were no injuries, Stewart said. The driver was nowhere to be found when police arrived, officers at the scene said.
It’s not clear if there was an ongoing Los Angeles Police Department investigation into what caused the crash. Officials were not able to immediately confirm whether detectives were looking into the crash, or if they were seeking to arrest the driver.
