Investigators Thursday sought the cause of a fire that tore through the roof of a commercial building in Chatsworth and left a firefighter with a minor injury.
Crews responded about 9:50 p.m. Wednesday to the Arizona Pipeline Co., 20510 Sunburst St., and found heavy fire and smoke coming from the building, according to Margaret Stewart of the Los Angeles Fire Department.
The fire burned through the roof of the approximately 75-by-100-foot building, and firefighters transitioned to a defensive operation and called for additional personnel to be sent to the scene.
An estimated 120 firefighters kept the flames from spreading to nearby buildings, and a knockdown was called at 11:27 p.m., Stewart said.
A representative from the Department of Building and Safety red-tagged the building due to the potential for collapse, she said.
A firefighter was taken to a hospital for treatment of a burn.
“The one firefighter transported had only a minor injury,” Stewart said in a statement.
Per department protocol for a fire of this size, arson investigators were called to the scene.
