Pedestrian Struck by Vehicle on I-10 in Cabazon, Killed

A pedestrian was struck by a vehicle and killed Wednesday morning in the eastbound lanes of Interstate 10 in the unincorporated Cabazon area near Banning, and a stretch of the freeway was closed while an investigation was conducted.

The crash was reported at 3:41 a.m. west of the Haugan-Lehman Way exit, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.

Details of what led up to the crash were not immediately available from the California Highway Patrol.

An investigation into the crash prompted the closure of all eastbound lanes of the freeway at Main Street, according to Caltrans. All lanes were reopened at about 7:30 a.m., the CHP reported.

The victim’s age, gender and name were not disclosed.
