A 26-year-old man was arrested Friday morning after he allegedly pointed a rifle at officers in Pomona.
Officers from the Pomona Police Department’s Major Crimes Task Force were in the area of Seventh and Rebecca streets when the suspect pulled his vehicle alongside the officers and pointed a rifle in their direction, according to Sgt. M. Medellin.
Officer reacted by drawing their weapons and ordering the suspect, identified as Raul Cuevas of Pomona, to drop the rifle. Cuevas was safely taken into custody without incident, Medellin said.
A preliminary investigation determined the rifle was loaded with a full magazine of 7mm ammunition, he said.
Cuevas was booked into the Pomona city jail on suspicion of possession of a loaded firearm.
