A 25-year-old man suspected of robbing a Walgreens store in Hemet at gunpoint was being held Wednesday in lieu of $30,000 bail.

Devin Ron Coehoorn Almazan of Hemet was arrested and booked Tuesday night into the Smith Correctional Facility in Banning on suspicion of robbery.

Almazan allegedly approached a clerk at the Walgreens in the 1600 block of West Florida Avenue about 7:30 p.m., brandished a gun and ordered the victim to empty the cash register.

The clerk complied, and the suspect ran away eastbound, at which point store employees called 911, according to Hemet police Lt. Michael Arellano. No one was injured.

“Hemet police officers were on-scene quickly and were provided updated information as to the suspect’s last known location where he was seen running,” Arellano said.

He said patrol officers were cruising through the 1400 block of West Florida when bystanders pointed out a home that Almazan had allegedly entered.

“While at the residence, Hemet police officers contacted Almazan,” the lieutenant said. “Several items of evidence, to include the cash taken from the business, was located and recovered at the residence.”

The suspect was taken into custody without incident.
