Man Pleads Guilty to Murdering Stepfather and Teenage Stepsister in Compton

A 44-year-old man pleaded guilty Monday to murdering his stepfather and teenage stepsister in Compton and is expected to be sentenced next month to life in prison without the possibility of parole.

Jamie Williams also pleaded guilty to the attempted murder of the dead girl’s mother and admitted allegations of multiple murders, use of a gun and causing great bodily injury. He is set to be sentenced Feb. 20.

Witnesses told authorities that Williams ran naked from the home in the 600 block of West Palmer Street where the shooting occurred about 6 p.m. on Sept. 28, 2018.

Eddie Talley Jr., 65, and Brittany Malone, 13, were pronounced dead at the scene from gunshot wounds. The girl’s mother, who was married to Talley, was shot in the upper body.

“My sister was shot twice,” Taylor Murrell, the wounded woman’s brother, told reporters at the scene. “My niece is dead and (my sister’s) husband is dead. (My sister’s) husband’s son shot them all.”

A handgun was recovered at the scene.

Williams was arrested the same day and has remained behind bars since then in lieu of $2 million bail.
