Man Fatally Shot in Hemet Alleyway

by Contributing Editor

A 26-year-old man was gunned down in a Hemet alleyway, and his assailant was at large Tuesday.

The attack happened about 8:30 p.m. Monday in the 1100 block of West Oakland Avenue, near Palm Avenue, according to Hemet police Lt. Jeff Davis.

He said patrol officers were called to the location to investigate reports of a man down in the alley just off of Oakland and discovered the victim unconscious and suffering from wounds to his upper body.

Officers initiated CPR until paramedics arrived and also attempted to revive the man, who was taken to a trauma center, where he died a short time later, according to Davis. His name was withheld pending family notification.

No potential suspects were immediately identified, and a possible motive was not released.

Anyone with information was asked to contact Detective Gabriel Gomez at 951-765-2396, or use the We Tip Hotline, 866-640-8477.
