LAKE VIEW TERRACE — Two horses were struck and their riders hospitalized in critical condition with injuries suffered in a hit-and-run crash in Lake View Terrace, and the driver was at large this morning.
The crash occurred near the intersection of Foothill Boulevard and Wheatland Avenue at 9:40 p.m. Friday, according to Officer Drake Madison of the Los Angeles Police Department.
Paramedics called to the scene found two riders in critical condition. Both were taken to a hospital, Los Angeles Fire Department spokesman Nicholas Prange said.
The horses appeared to have been killed, Prange said.
The driver, described as a Hispanic man in his 20s, 5 feet 5 to 5 feet 7 inches tall with shaggy hair and a beard and possible injuries to his forehead and an arm, ran from the scene and was sought by police, Madison said.
